90 Day Challenge : Breakfast

It has been one week! Check the scales today and record your progress. So far I've lost 2-3 lbs (my scale is a little shifty… it likes to make my weight fluctuate every time I step on). Two pounds is my goal because it means I am losing weight without putting a lot of stress on my body.

Today I want to write about one of my favorite things: breakfast. I have a theory that my breakfast is 90% of the reason I get up in the morning because I love it so much. This is slightly embarrassing considering I eat the same thing every morning. I love this particular breakfast because it gives me energy/nutrients/and protein. It also stream lines my digestive system as well… if you know what I mean.

So this is the magic formula:

1/8 cup granola - Granola can be really good for you, but I just get the really cheap/less nutrient rich stuff because its main purpose in my concoction is to sweeten. Note: use granola sparingly because it is extremely high in calories.

1/2 cup All Bran cereal - I love this stuff. It adds fiber to your breakfast without loading up on calories. It only has 80 calories per 1/2 cup.

2 tbsp. Flax Seed - I like the whole flax seeds, but I bought a bag of milled flaxseed from Costco so I mix the two together. I also sometimes add a tsp. of chia seeds as well because they are good for your digestive system and make your yogurt extra filling.

The last thing you need is any kind of yogurt. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I buy low fat yogurt. It is about 60 calories per container which is ideal since regular is often twice the calories.

Then I mix it all together.

I have a fairly un-refined palette, so I realize that this might not tantalize everyones taste buds, but I love this breakfast, and it always starts my day off right.
