In preparation for the next 90 days I've been trying to plan my meals ahead of time. I am not promoting diet shakes on here officially, but I definitely incorporate them into my meal plan because they are easy, filling, and low-cal. I also have found that along with diet shakes, repetitive meals help (at least in the beginning) to get me back on track. I think the rule should always be moderation in all things, however there are a few meals I eat often (sometimes daily) because they are nutrient/energy packed and easy for me to count calories.
Repetition also takes the stress out of grocery shopping for me. Here was my trip to the grocery store this morning:
I try to optimize nutrients and minimize calories. I know there is a lot of information out there on different nutrition strategies and what is good for our bodies. I try to implement some of those theories, but I definitely fall short. For example I get low calorie yogurt, even though I have a gut feeling regular and/or greek yogurt is probably better for my body. Just know I'm not an authority on nutrition, but I do keep track of nutrition trends. For me, taking into account all I have studied on the matter, my favorite rule is trying to fill my diet with food that has a short shelf life because it is usually the healthiest.

So, Dan and I talked momentarily about doing a "no processed food" diet for the sake of his health, but then we just laughed and moved on.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you eat. What are those green peppers next to the bell peppers?
I always try to get a lot of different veggies and it's hard to use them all - getting lots of only a couple is so smart!
